Businesses both locally and nationally are gearing up to take some time to appreciate the hard work and dedication that educators provide during National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6 to 10. National Teacher Appreciation Day is May 7.

Free Tea at McAlister’s Deli
Grab a refreshing tea for free from McAlister’s Deli from May 6 to 12. Whether you prefer sweet, unsweet, a mix of both, or even half lemonade, half tea, all are included in this teacher appreciation week deal. Extra flavor shots are not included. Receive 20 Percent Off at Buffalo Wild Wings
Craving wings? Buffalo Wild Wings is 20 percent off an order for any teachers. This can be used for both dine-in and to-go orders. A valid school ID must be provided to receive the discount.
Free Teacher Supply Kits at Staples
From May 5 through May 11, teachers can score some free classroom swag. Each teacher supply kit is set to include two Expo dry-erase markers, one Sharpie permanent marker, two Sharpie highlighters, two Paper Mate ballpoint pens, eight Paper Mate woodcase pencils, two Paper Mate erasers, one Elmer’s glue stick, and one Elmer’s liquid school glue. Note that there is a limited number of kits per store and the kits may not be available at all Staples locations. Staples also will give 20 percent off purchases during the week for teachers with a valid ID at checkout.
Sonic Drive-In Rewards
Sonic Drive-In will release rewards to any teachers enrolled in its Teachers’ Circle Rewards Program during Teacher Appreciation Week. You must be enrolled in the program before Monday, May 6 to be eligible for any rewards. You’ll be able to redeem the rewards for many things including cheeseburgers, Sonic Blasts, and large drinks.
Catering Deals Through Potbelly’s
Catering deals for teaching staff will be available next week at any NoVA-area Potbelly’s location. Choose from either 10 percent off an order of $200 or more or free delivery. While Costco does not provide a discounted rate for teacher memberships, it does have a special offer for teachers who join as a new member.
